I have no sense of style

Where to begin?
I think there are reasons to feel this way. Probably doesn't help that I am getting bigger by the day. I'll spare the pictures for now because from now till 2 years from now, I won't be satified with how I'll look. It's better that way, trust me!
Pregnancies are hard for me. I don't like being pregnant.

There! I said it. Sorry but "I'm just being honest"

I don't like my body exploding like the Hindenburg. It's frustrating to see the hard work of losing the weight to have it come on again and there's nothing you can do about it! Now, I know all the positives of being pregnant. There's a baby at the end of it. I can let myself go a bit. I have a solid excuse to lie on the couch while my husband does the dishes or makes dinner. But I like to feel useful! And I like to look cute too :)

While I was in Utah, I was able to go to dinner with some close friends from HS. After the experience, I felt totally out of it. I am so far behind the style, it is scary! And no worries, it wasn't anything my friends had said or did. They were their cheery, awesome selves. It was all me. I admit I am a bit self-conscience on how I look these days. It's probably a mix of hormones, explosions and the fact the it's takes a talented person to have a low budget and still look cute and fashionable. I shouldn't worry about it really. But I am only 25! I should still look cute and fashionable, right? Just because I have kids, doesn't mean my sense of style shouldn't roll over and die!

So I ask you, how do you do it? How do you stay up with the fashion of things on a low budget?
Where do you like to shop that has cute clothes but cheap?

I would love to know.

PS There will be pics soon of my house and from my trip to UT...so there might be pics of me, don't say I didn't warn you..wha wha wha!

I am so bummed I missed out on a high school get together, sounds like fun! I went through this a couple months ago when I realized that my sister who is almost 10 years older than me is SO much more hip and stylish than me... I finally came to the realization that to feel better about myself I need to take better care of myself... like actually shower everyday, and really do my hair and make-up EVERY DAY! It has really helped me... My two favorite places to shop for clothes for me are TJMAXX and H&M... If you ever need a shopping buddy, let me know we could make a girls night out of it...even if we are just window shopping.:) We need to get together, I am so lame for having not coming to visit you yet! The girls and I are going to Utah on Thursday for a couple weeks while Seth studies and takes the bar.... So we will need to do something when I get back... Sorry you are feeling so down...

I totally felt this way this last pregnancy. Maybe because I knew what to expect... It really is so frustrating to watch all your hard work (to lose the weight) go down the drain as you get ever bigger and bigger. Blah! I agree with the previous comment. A big part of feeling good about myself has to do with the time I take for me. I take a shower and put my make up on and I workout. Even when I was pregnant. A workout isn't the same when you're growing a baby, but a good walk by myself did wonders to lift my spirits. I feel ya.

I like H&M a lot. ( I am no fashion bug by any means!) I also love the Premier Outlet Mall (which is off the 95 and just north of Charleston.) You should go check out the mall now because they have so many great back to school sales. Living in Vegas allows you to wear summer clothes forever, so it's a great time to stock up.

Kick your heels up and have some ice cream while your hubby does the dishes! That always makes me feel better. :)

Whatever. You look fabulous. But if you're really needing cute maternity clothes for cheap, here's what I found while in Utah.

First, Shade clothing has maternity shirts on sale for $12-15 in store and online. Their shirts have held up well in the past for me, and they're a nice quality cotton (not tissue see-through).

Second, Kohl's ALWAYS has sales. Even if things aren't marked, it's probably on sale. Right now practically all the maternity tops are BOGO free on their website. So if you buy two $18 tops, that works out to $9 a shirt! They're also running a 15% off promo, but it may end today.

Target has lots of summer maternity pieces on sale. It's probably easier to browse online than in the store because the clearance sections are usually a rotten mess. But if you're willing to dig, you'll probably find something good.

Speaking of digging through clearance, you may be able to find normal, not maternity, shirts that'll still fit -- the empire waist and flowy shirt look has hit lots of the stores.

Do you want to go window shopping some time to take a look around? Again, you look fabulous. But I'd be happy to distract the girls while you try stuff on.

I have NO fashion sense....however....Kohl's has the best deals! If you open one of their cards you get even more deals! Honestly there are always sales, discounts and coupons going on! Who can top a sale, plus a $10 off coupon, PLUS 15-30% in addition to that??

But, you always look cute Lyssa! I don't think you need to worry. I was more shocked that you are 25 with almost 3 kids. I turned 25, 3 weeks after Josh was born! I forget that you are just a baby:)

I hate being pregnant too! I hate it so much I never want to do it again. :/
Anyways, I am going through the same problem with trying to dress cute on a budget. I'll be interested to see what others have to say.
The cutest/cheapest things I have found have been at Charming Charlie (accessories), Tj Maxx, and Ross although those last two are VERY hit or miss and it's hard to find time to shop and try on clothes with kids around.
Just wait for sales. I've found lots of banana republic and gap shirts for $10 if I just wait.
Shoes are my biggest problem right now. Once I hit a GREAT sale at macy's and got some roxy shoes for $10. To get great deals, you have to shop often and what mom has time or energy for that??
GOOD LUCK!

hey girl! first off, you are beautiful! i totally agree with the yucky pregnancies though! i hate being pregnant too! its so horrible, just always remember that you get a baby out of it and almost anything is worth it to have a perfect little angel! i gained 50 lbs with breklyn and was sick the entire time. the weight will eventually come off (just work out and eat healthy). in addition to the shopping places people already said i like charlotte russe and forever 21. a lot of it is really trendy and young, but even if your not into the trendy stuff you can still find good very cheap clothes there. i love sam moon for accessories. its only in texas i think, but you can shop online. they dont have as much but its cheap! its sammoon.com
anyways, hope your liking vegas!!

What are you talking about? You're gorgeous! You don't need all the cute clothes. You've got the prettiest face! You would look so cute in some plain old T-shirts!! You don't know it but you are beautiful pregnant or not! I swear!

I agree with mel wood too! really, who cares about what you wear and how you look! thats not what really matters and its good to remember that once in a while!!!

Lyssa! you have alot of fashion sense! I swear everytime we went to a girls night out, I wanted to see what you where going to wear because you always looked put together and modest! I used to be able to be in fashion all the time, but now I don't really keep up with it. Ocasionally, I look for a shirt of accesory but thats it. Celest and I go to FALLAS and Ross and have found some cute stuff. I always thought that you looked beautiful, and had the whole mormon cute girl look. I think that sometimes we are worst critics.

ok, so I'm not calling myself fashionable in the least...but I will say I am a major bargain shopper. Even if I shop a lot, I never buy anything over like $12 for myself. SOOOOO, with that said, you are still so pretty and cute so don't let that get you down. If you have an H&M available to shop at for sure start there! Bc the prices aren't bad...and pretty much all cute things to choose from. Look at magazines and then try to copy the look for cheaper (like anthropologie catalogues FREE)...but mixing in really nice pieces...like nice jeans or nice skirt...or something. Also, Forever XXI is super cheap...but you have to dig. I also get stuff from TJ MAXX but again, you kinda have to be a seasoned shopper to dig throught their stuff. I wish so bad we could go SHOPPING. You are a perfect pallet to work with because you are beautiful!
